The Learning Lab series, Leading Social Emotional Learning with Preschoolers I, is designed for Preschool practitioners. Engage in a hands-on/minds-on exploration of social emotional learning as the basis for all other learning that takes place in the classroom and at home. Practitioners will gain knowledge, learn new practical strategies, and reflect and set goals based on the SEL content topics presented to create a compassionate and productive classroom and school community.

 

Course Learning Objectives:

1. Increase practitioner's knowledge of social emotional development and social and emotional learning in early childhood 2. Define Social and Emotional Learning 3. Design and develop activities children can do in the classroom and home to support their social emotional learning 4. Increase understanding of need of social and emotional learning in early childhood education, 3. Apply new practical strategies for dealing with the most common behavioral challenges such as talking out of turn, not sharing, etc. 4. Build practitioner confidence in nurturing young children's agency, voice, adaptability and resilience.
